ROMULUS, MI, June 23, 2011 - In support of the DTE Energy Foundation, The Skillman Foundation, and the Detroit Youth Employment Consortium, RKA Petroleum Companies has recently provided a generous donation to the 2011 Grow Detroit’s Young Talent (GDYT) program.  The primary focus of the GDYT initiative is to identify and create hundreds of summer jobs for young Detroiters ages 14-24, thereby encouraging productive pathways to adulthood.  Exposing youth and young adults to a variety of work readiness training opportunities has been identified as a critical element in helping young people acquire the knowledge needed to become a valued employee and to develop essential, invaluable work skills as they develop their career plans to join the Michigan workforce in the future. 

Along with many Detroit-area businesses including RKA strategic partners CAT and Inland Waters, both GDYT supporters and contributors as well, our organization understands the importance of investing in and involvement with the local communities.  Considering the current state of the economy, RKA believes that supporting programs such as GDYT is crucial to the success and futures of our youth and young adults, Michigan employers, and the communities alike.
